Becoming an Antiracist Organization

October 20, 2020

As recent events have cast a bright light on centuries of racial injustice, Lutheran social ministry organizations are asking how they can contribute to a more equitable society. Racial justice and equity require us to take a critical internal look at our leadership, policies, and operations and have some difficult conversations. Hear from three peer leaders as they continue addressing their organization’s role in systemic racism, explore efforts to engage community partners to dismantle racism, and discuss the importance in recognizing and naming the pain that racism causes. During this webinar, your peers will share their successes and challenges in this important work, and explore questions such as, what does it mean to be an antiracist organization? What steps can you take to join in on the journey of becoming an antiracist organization? What tools and resources can help you along the way?

Panelists:

  • Damyn Kelly, President and CEO, Lutheran Social Services of New York
  • Michael Bertrand, President and CEO & Beverly Jones, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois
  • Paulo Pina, Pediatric Medical Director, Assistant Clinical Professor, NYU Robert I. Grossman School of Medicine, Family Health Centers at NYU Langone

Member Innovation Spotlight (Webinar): Lyngblomsten’s eMenuCHOICE

December 10, 2019

Join us for Member Innovation Spotlight — a virtual forum designed specifically for Lutheran Services in America members to share their innovations and foster business opportunities. In this webinar Lutheran Services in America member Lyngblomsten shares eMenuCHOICE, a product they developed to transform the dining experience and increase operational efficiencies. eMenuCHOICE is used in over 150 communities across the United States and Canada including Lutheran Services in America members Ecumen and Cassia. eMenuCHOICE enables care providers and senior living communities to place meal orders safely and swiftly. The innovative app takes into consideration food allergies and other dietary restrictions, tracks preferences over time, and is intended to prevent order mistakes while promoting more choice for residents. eMenuCHOICE also greatly improves back office functions such as billing for resident, guest and employee meals and is integrated with popular health record providers like PointClickCare, Eldermark and Residex. Jazmin King from Ecumen will join Matt Stenerson and the team from Lyngblomsten as they share how eMenuCHOICE helped transform their residents dining experience. Do you have a product or innovation to share? Contact Swathi Mannem at smannem@lutheranservices.org and we can partner to get the word out. The webinar will occur at 10 a.m. EST on Dec. 10.
